”Very late picked, with the shrivelled grapes fermented over 28 days, before stopping with 122g/L RS; all steel. This is powerful and redolent of dried fruits, dates, figs, apricots and orange peel, along with toasted pistachio, dried sage, coffee, gentian and chicory, roasted root vegetables, spent tea leaves, tilled earth, carob and warmed fennel seeds. This is not fortified, remarkably, so the spiritous impact is different, somewhat more rustic, and in a wholly interesting way. It’s a supremely characterful wine, and one perhaps requiring a bit of thought and context. It’s worth it.” – Marcus Ellis. Gold 95 points.
