The new 2022 vintage of La Bollina’s Minetta has arrived and it’s tasting amazing!

A broody, dark red made from 100% Barbera grapes. There are violet reflections, spice with hints of blackberry and licorice and black pepper. The taste is full and dry, but also pleasant and generous. Perfect with pasta dishes, raw meats, roasts and mature cheeses. Do like the Italians do and serve it at 16-18C.

NEW WINE IN FROM OUR SICILIAN FAVES PIANOGRILLO!

Some of our favourite wines we’ve been sorely missing in our stores have finally returned, and this time we’ve brought in a few new friends, including a sparkling version of their beloved Frappato!

In a hilltop city of south-east Sicily, an ancient castle overlooks the lush surroundings of the Pianogrillo estate. A man of many trades, Lorenzo is a master of not only organically farmed wine and olive oil, but is a concert pianist and artist too. Lorenzo prides himself on sustainable farming methods, and as such, his vineyards and winery are certified organic. An endangered breed of protected Sicilian swine wander the land that has belonged to Pianogrillo barons for centuries, Lorenzo being the remaining descendant of this line. The herd of locals and some horses are free to graze amongst the 14 acres of vines that produce Frappato, Nero d’Avola, Grillo and Grecanico. Lorenzo and his team’s dedication to sustainability of the ancient land they farm is unwavering, and this produces wonderful expressions of the region and varietal.

New releases in store from @mdi.wine! Easily one of the best bang for buck winemakers in our stores, especially when you consider the history behind the winemaking. Kevin McCarthy, the guy behind MDI, has a long history of being a bit of a rebel in the industry, and his attention is now focussed on Italian varietals growing in Mildura. Being attributed with the production of the first skin contact/orange wine in Australia around 3 decades ago, he’s had a lot more time than most to truely nail this method of winemaking. This is particularly evident in these two gorgeous wines that just hit our store, ready and waiting to be enjoyed in the sun 😌

RETURN OF TWO STORE FAVES
@stuart01proud is a farmer first and foremost, and one of the country’s leading practitioners of sustainable farming methods. An impressive history in the vines over the last 25 years naturally led him to begin producing his own wine in 2010.
Proud’s holistic approach in the vineyard is the star of the show at Proud Primary Produce; “At the core of everything is farming and soil health. Nothing else happens if that isn’t done well.”
These wines do an incredible job of showcasing not only his knowledge as a viticulturist, but as a winemaker as well. One being a well crafted Pinot Noir, and the other being a delicious chilled red.
