The Lansdowne, Downe-Lo Rose is not a rosé in the traditional sense but i’m not sure what else you would call it. Either way it doesn’t really matter, it’s its own thing and that’s fine with me.
The Downe-lo is a lo-fi, amber, rose-ish blend made of Cabernet Sauvignon (Red) and Pinot Gris (Whitish) picked at opposite ends of the harvest. Finally, freshened up with a touch of Pinot Noir Rosé (pink). The end result is an orangish wine that is unlike many others.
Describved by the winemkaers as ‘a bright, sour delight of spicy-food-friendliness. Chill down and get to know each other.’
Winemaking: Whole bunch pressed and fermented on pinot gris skins for 7 days. Transferred off skins to complete ferment in oak. Racked off fine lees and blended with a touch of pinot noir rose. Unfined, unfiltered, 10ppm sulfur at bottling.
Minimal intervention, low preservative, vegan friendly
