Dievole is one of those places that makes you want to pack up and move to the Italian countryside. The vineyard is flanked by forests full of truffles and wild boar and sits on a hill overlooking a medieval town straight from a hollywood film set. The Broccato is what they call a Super Tuscan meaning it’s made with grapes not permitted in the DOCG. Even though it’s technically classed as an IGT wine (the rungs below DOCG), it’s one of the wineries top offerings. There’s generous fruit with harmonious notes of cherry, raspberries, violet and lavender on the nose. In the mouth it’s complex and well-structured with a good acidity that enhances excellent flavours of red berries, herbs, coffee and vanilla. Gentle and elegant tannins with a good persistence. Decant if possible.
