Matt Head has a nose for blending unusual varietals to make distinctively Australian wines that speak of place and history. Here you have 50% Touriga and 50% Malbec sourced from two separate vineyards close to Lake Alexandrina on calcareous soils. The fruit was crushed and de-stemmed in a traditional manner and fermented in small-batch open fermenters. The Touriga gives it a fiery, sultry robustness while the Malbec brings the sass. As they say over at Big Easy, this is the sort of drinking that shapes nations.
