Schioppettino Doc Friuli Colli Orientali. Called also Ribolla Nera, It’s one of the most ancient native vines in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
AGE OF THE VINES:
17 years - mt. 203 a.l.m. – South-West exposure.
Marl and sandstone of Eocene origin.
VINEYARDS SET UP:
Vines trained with Guyot system, 4,750 of vines per hectare, 1,40kg of grape production per vine.
Manual, with grapes selection.
The first 10 days of October.
The destemmed and pressed grapes are left to macerate for a fortnight. Fermentation is carried out at a controlled temperature, with delicate pumping over the cap. After racking, soft pressing follows, so as to avoid the extraction of
bitter tannins from the fermented skins. The wine obtained is kept in tanks for a few months, before being racked in barriques where it matures for 12 months approximately. After bottling, the wine is stored for a long period before placing on the market.
alc. Vol. 13%; total acidity 4.6 gr/lt; total dry extract 29 gr/lt.
Red ruby color tending to garnet with ageing. Large and great in the nose with interesting red fruit flavors. In the taste is warm, full bodied and round with excellent intensity and long finishing. With ageing the nice dark spices show up.
Ideal for accompanying red meats and game.
